On computing viscoelastic Love numbers for general planetary models: the <tt>ALMA3</tt> code

SUMMARY The computation of the Love numbers (LNs) for a spherically symmetric self-gravitating viscoelastic Earth is classical problem in global geodynamics. Here we revisit numerical evaluation loading and tidal LNs static limit an incompressible planetary body, adopting Laplace inversion scheme based upon Post-Widder formula as alternative to traditional normal modes method. We also consider, within same framework, complex-valued, frequency-dependent that describe response periodic forcing, which are paramount study deformation planets. Furthermore, numerically obtain time-derivatives LNs, suitable modelling geodetic signals surface loads variations. A number examples shown, time evaluated planets realistic rheological profiles. solution implemented ALMA3 (the plAnetary nuMbers cAlculator, version 3), upgraded open-source Fortran 90 program computes radially layered bodies with wide range rheologies, including transient laws like Andrade or Burgers.
